MY UMBRELLA
When was the last time you hug your parents?
That was the question I asked myself and there are lots of realizations comes to my mind.
I just realized that we are too busy in our own lives, focusing on how to achieve our goals. Striving that wonderful dream you create while you're young. But... how about your parents? How about the people who raised you when you are nobody?
Do you realized how they aged so fast? Getting weaker everyday, looking old, being lazy, being slow and sometimes their presence pissed you off.
Admit it or not. There are times that we don't want to be around them because they are being makulit wanting our attention to open up and share something about our lives. And you know, that is something that we need to treasure now while they are here beside us. Remember that they are the only person who truly cares more than anyone else. They will be the one who will believe you every time you fall and fail, helping you out when you're in trouble.
I know you are also busy focusing on your own life whether it's school or work. Try also to build strong bond between you and parents. This isn't time to be awkward. Believe me. It's fun to chat with our parents about life experiences, you'll get inspired, you'll realized how lucky you are (because they always compare your generation to theirs). That's where you can hear dad jokes (the corny one ). You could also learn life lessons, budgeting, leadership, parenting, socializing or basically could help to know yourself better.
There are more things we could learn from them. Just try to give them some of your time. Because maybe one day they will be gone, but memories you spend with them will remain inside you.
If you want a solid chikahan (conversation) cook something good for dinner and eat together with your family.
Start with a healthy conversation, and when that becomes a routine, you'll always think of what is the best dinner every night just to listen to their stories. Having a nice conversation while on "hapag kainan" will made you feel thankful for God, placing you to wonderful people. And now we get to realized how important these people are, transformed us into a wonderful and beautiful humans because these people are the one who mold our characters and who we really are.
Now you've come this far.
If you are reading this it's time to give your parents a warm hug, just don't say a word, made them feel you really appreciate their presence.
p.s.
our parents could be and always will be our umbrellas. when we are drench from problems and issues,
they could catch our troubles, they will always make us safe not to suffer. they could be your safest haven when the storms comes in.
I encourage you to open your umbrellas.
